Michael Paul Schwab died unexpectedly at Rex Hospital on November 21, 2016, in Raleigh, NC at the age of 68.

Michael is survived by his wife Janie Shepherd Schwab, son Justin and his wife Missy, dearest daughter Dana and her husband John Richards, grandchildren Lauren and Matthew Schwab and Ryan Richards. Also surviving is his sister Judy Dixon of Dallas, NC. He is preceded in death by parents Augie and Shirle Schwab.

Michael was born on May 22, 1948, in Meadville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Stanley High School and proudly served in the US Navy 1967-1971, his favorite job being navigation. He married his true love Janie Shepherd of Greensboro in 1970. He worked in law enforcement, sold life insurance, computers, wine & ski equipment, remodeled kitchens, but ultimately God led him to Raleigh in 1984 where he and Janie bought Environment Control, a commercial cleaning company where son Justin has made a career in operations with Michael and Janie.

Michael, affectionately called "a Renaissance Man" by his niece, had diverse interests. to include first and foremost hanging out with his family and amazing grandchildren, scuba diving, fox hunting, weight lifting, cooking a stellar meal, wine collecting, driving Mustangs, playing bridge (Raleigh Bridge Club), loving his giant schnauzer Jack, listening to an eclectic choice of music especially his love Sarah Brightman, wine making, fine dining, watching "Zoweh" movies, watching Hurricanes games with his son, being involved with his local church Ekklesia, and traveling (his 3 favorites were St. Maarten, Napa & NYC with Janie).
But more importantly - and what he would want all to know - is that he was a man of faith; God blessed him with men through Zoweh Ministries who helped him learn to love others like Jesus loves us. One of his favorite expressions was "you are loved to the extent you are known." This was his mantra. to know men, know their stories, and listen and love. His encouragement to us would be to love God, love our mates with all our hearts, love our children wholly and love others. "I love you brother."

The family will receive friends from 3-5pm on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. A funeral service will be held 10am Monday, November 28, 2016 at the funeral home. A graveside service with military honors will be held later that day at 3pm at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N Ohenry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405.
